Orange County Museum of Art

Newport Beach, California

The OCMA project consisted of a renovation of the interior Pavilion area and the exterior court yard areas. The entire west wall of the Pavilion area was shored up, removed, and reconstructed for installation of sectional glass doors and new glass transoms above. The entire ceiling structure was removed and a new suspended metal pan ceiling was installed. The existing concrete tile floor was removed and replaced with a concrete floor that was cut in patterns. A suspended drywall and Gyptone wall system was installed on all walls with a suspended entry ceiling built to match.

Included in the interior renovation was a new reception area, a complete food service area, a retail store, and an artichoke shaped control room with special light coves. The exterior Court Yard consisted of a 6,000 sf removal of existing concrete and installation of retaining walls, planters, structural posts for an exterior projection screen, fiberglass canopy, entry ramp, and new landscaping. At front of building a suspended art display board and three flagpoles were also installed.
