Founder
Years of Experience: 52

Mr. Mike Howard started the company almost four decades ago with a vision of focusing on tenant improvements and providing unparalleled client experiences. Since then, he has seen HBC grow into one of the largest tenant improvement general contractors in Southern California with some of the leading professionals in the industry. If HBC is known for anything, it is known for its people, and Mike Howard has set a precedent for a workplace culture that treats employees like they are family.

"I am very proud of having started this company from an idea and a dream to watching it grow into what it is today, not because of me, but because of the many wonderful people who have come on board and contributed to its success. I love being in a leadership position with such a remarkable group of individuals, both in the office and the field. I believe our approach to building teams is unique and sets us apart from our competitors in the industry. We have built our teams into collaborative, self-sustaining units that are comprised of the Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Administrator and Superintendents. Our teams work with great freedom and utilize their own strengths to deliver excellent results for our clients. In return, we provide as many opportunities for success as possible. We continue to expand and grow our systems that support the operation of our teams because it's important to me that we give our people every opportunity to grow and succeed. Personally, I have always enjoyed the challenge of locating project opportunities. Information is like pieces to a puzzle. I find great reward in gradually putting the pieces together then turning a project over to the HBC team to pursue and accomplish. Some of the proudest moments during my career include some of the more remarkable project opportunities the company has seen: our very first job with the Los Angeles law firm, Argue Preston; the 450,000 square foot Con Agra project--when even our people thought we could not win the competition--but I encouraged them not to give up and, in the end, we were successful; and finally, of course, our ongoing successes with firms such as PIMCO and Google/YouTube, and so many more. Always Onward & Upward!"
