Heart of the City 5K to Raise Funds for CHMC’s New Building

04/02/2019

There is hardly a better way to spend a beautiful Los Angeles morning than among a sea of runners and walkers with one common goal – to help provide a local, non-profit healthcare facility with the resources needed to continue serving the greater community. This was exactly the motive behind California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC)’s Heart of the City 5K, which was held on Saturday, March 30. All proceeds from the event went to expanding their services into a new, four-story building that includes a full-service trauma center and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Howard Building Corporation is proud to have been a course sponsor with two competing Corporate Cup Teams and several individuals who walked the course in support.

About the Event

This was CHMC’s 7th annual run/walk event, and the turnout was unprecedented. Over 3,000 participants, their furry companions, and hundreds of companies flooded the streets of downtown for this pledge-based fundraiser. The race began at 8:30 am and was followed by a festival, delicious breakfast, a dog costume contest, and Zumba. Check out the video to see highlights!
