HBC is seeking a Human Resources Generalist (Los Angeles, CA). Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Organizational Development, or related field; professional certification, current and relevant CEUs, and at least two years of relevant HR experience.

The Human Resources Generalist will assist administration managers, in-house counsel, and the staff development team with the administration and development of an integrated HR system focused on the creation of added value for all employees, regulatory compliance, staff development, and process improvement.

Basic Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Recruitment, assessment, and job candidate screening
  • Process employment applications and background checks
  • Assist with candidate interviewing and interview process improvement
  • Assist with development and validation of employee selection procedures
  • Complete new hire process, including orientation and paperwork
  • Develop and deliver new hire orientation and mentoring plans
  • Assist with preparation of detailed job descriptions
  • Assist with development of training manuals for each position
  • Manage Worker’s Compensation claims
  • Administer Medical/ Vision/ Dental/ Life insurance benefits, and COBRA
  • EEO-1 records and reporting; EEOC/ ADA/ ERISA compliance; I-9 verification
  • HRIS database management, employee recordkeeping
  • Administer Short-term disability, FMLA, USERRA, and LOA’s
  • Manage/ post legally mandated information as required by governmental agencies
  • Handle employee relations issues, such as complaints, interventions, and investigations
  • Assist with administration and improvement of employee development programs
  • Assist with development of objective performance evaluations

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Assistant Project Manager

We have openings for Assistant Project Managers that are self-starters, productive, highly organized and energetic.  An Assistant Project Manager’s function is to be a liaison between the Project Manager, Owner, Engineers, Subcontractors and HBC office & field employees.  The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to assist manage projects from preconstruction construction through closeout, and will demonstrate an ability to advance in a construction career. 

Overview of Duties:

·  Work with project team to manage projects from inception to completion

·  Manage and review shop drawings and submittals to ensure conformance to design specifications and project intent.

·  Management and document control of all bid-related documents and project documents.

·  Coordinate, monitor and distribute design modifications

·  Oversee subcontract provisions

·  Process change orders

·  Prepare progress billings

·  Assemble subcontractor/vendor bid solicitation packages

·  Qualify subcontractor/vendor bid responses

·  Mange material procurement, including compliance with specs and lead times

·  Provide strong document and project controls including monitoring RFI and submittal traffic for potential cost/schedule impacts

·  Thoroughly document, track and convey all action items and activities via meeting minutes, weekly and monthly project update reports.

·  Coordinate with local agencies to secure permits

Successful candidate will:

·  Be a self-starter with initiative and follow through that can contribute to team efforts by assisting where and when needed.

·  Possess the ability to work on Tenant Improvements/Interiors projects which require a fast pace, multi-tasking, and upbeat personality

·  Possess the desire to learn about the wide array of construction services we offer.

·  Possess the ability to handle multiple projects

·  Have excellent time management skills; the ability to prioritize is a must.

·  Work well under deadline pressure

·  Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to switch gears at a moment’s notice.

Qualifications:

·  High school diploma or its equivalent

·  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or educational background in architecture, engineering or construction management, preferred

·  2-3 years of experience in the construction industry are desired

·  Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project)

·  Knowledge of web-based project management platforms

·  LEED accreditation preferred

Project Managers are ultimately responsible for the conduct of all assigned projects.  They have responsibility for and control of all subcontracts, purchases, scheduling, accounting, specifications, quality control, personnel, public relations, communications and billing procedures to properly, fully, and professionally represent HBC and ensure the smooth completion of every project.

Overview of Duties:

·  Establish and maintain positive and confident relationships with owners and owners’ representatives, as well as architects, designers, property managers, consultants and subcontractors.

·  Maintain the highest level of professionalism, cooperation, organization, knowledge and control of projects to appropriately represent HBC.

·  Provide overall management direction and ensure execution of multiple construction projects.

·  Establish and maintain clear communication and delegation between all project team members.

·  Mentor, coach and train Assistant Project Managers.

·  Financial management of all phases of projects (estimating, bidding, cost tracking to closeout).

·  Attend pre-bid/site review meetings.

·  Estimate construction budgets and review/prepare bid packages.

·  Manage and lead meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

·  Monitor the performance of the project superintendents and ensure the highest industry standards are met by all subcontracted trades.

·  Prepare and maintain project schedules and coordinate scope of work for all trades.

·  Accountable for owner contracts, subcontracts, POs, associated changes orders, etc.

·  Coordinate and document weekly project site meetings.

·  Manage all submissions and inspections required by governing agencies.

·  Regularly visit project sites to monitor and discuss status of projects with the superintendents.

·  Ensure that accurate and complete plans and specifications are issued to all subcontractors and document any omissions or inaccuracies.

·  Monitor keeping of as-builts, submittals and manuals, in conjunction with the superintendent, and ensure all records are transmitted to the owner upon completion of project.

·  Ensure accounting for all projects is accurate and complete and maintain accurate and timely reporting to the accounting department.

Qualifications:

·  5+ years as a Project Manager on Tenant Improvement/Interiors Projects in Commercial Construction.

·  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or educational background in architecture, engineering or construction management, preferred.

·  Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project).

·  Ability to read plans and specifications required.

Superintendent

HBC is always looking for talented individuals, individuals who manage their projects by anticipation, rather than reaction, and who plan the work rather than letting it take its own course.  We are looking for Superintendents who are not willing to sit back and wait for others to perform, but rather ones who step up, initiate control, and take the extra steps necessary for a successful project completed on time with the highest quality standards.

Minimum qualities we seek in our superintendent candidates are:

·  Motivated self-starter.

·  Minimum 5 years of experience in Class A commercial tenant improvement. Legal space and/or High Tech space preferred.

·  Good communication skills.

·  Must present well to clients and be able to gain trust through the working relationship.

·  Ability to identify conflicts in a timely, proactive manner and be able to present solutions and workarounds for those problems.

Responsibilities include:

·  Maintenance of the project schedule.

·  Maintenance of Daily Logs.

·  Maintenance of quality control.

·  Coordination of trades.

·  Interpretation of plans.

·  Maintenance of safe conditions.

·  Insure conformance to building codes.
